Sixth Form Admissions
We are dedicated to ensuring that students make the right choice and to that end we have a comprehensive admissions process to guide you and your parents as you take the next steps on your educational career. From Year 7, students are offered advice on careers and future pathways. Preparations for Sixth Form entry begin in Year 9 when all students take part in our Year 9 Taster Day and again Year 11. Students have the opportunity to sample a wide range of A Level and Level 3 subjects to help support GCSE option choices. In January of Year 11 we hold our Open Evening and open our online application process. Below you will find a full overview of our admissions process. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Year 9 & 11 Taster Day
All Year 9 & 11 students have the opportunity to attend a taster day where they have a choice of 4 A-Level style lessons and an enrichment lesson. This day aims to provide students with an insight of life in the Sixth Form.
All Year 11 students from WDS and other schools are invited to an open evening where students and parents can meet staff and discuss subject options. Our Open Evening is on January 11th, 2024, but in the meantime the video above from last year’s virtual Open Evening details all our subjects.
We invite all prospective students to apply online before the 27th of February 2024, selecting 3/4 subjects and providing predicted grades for GCSE subjects.
You can apply using our external or internal application forms after our Open Evening.
In March of Year 11 we invite students to interview to discuss subject choices and suitability. This is an opportunity for students to impress upon us the reasons for applying to Sixth Form.
If successful in your application, you will receive a conditional offer in May of Year 11. Please read this letter carefully. It will state that your offer is conditional, meaning that you must meet the entry requirements outlined in the Sixth Form Prospectus and have maintained good attendance.
In July of Year 11 you will be invited to our transition day which is designed to support you as you move from GCSE to A-Level. Activities include a skills audit, University and Higher Education talks and team building exercises.
